What is NEAR Protocol Staking?

Step #2
Run Your Own NEAR Validator
The reward rate is determined by calculating the total rewards per epoch (measured in seconds), multiplied by the staking period, and dividing that result by the staked balance.
There’s no set minimum of NEAR required to become a validator; however, to be part of the active validator set, you must stake an amount exceeding the current seat price. This value fluctuates and can be checked on the NEAR explorer.
To withdraw your staked tokens, you need to start the unbonding period, which takes 36 - 48 hours (3 full epochs). During this time, your staked NEAR will not accrue any new rewards, and you will be unable to withdraw them until the completion of the period.
