Learn about Validity Staking
How to stake Validity (VAL)?
To stake VAL it is recommended to run the Validity Core wallet on your Computer or a Virtual Private Server (VPS).
To get the highest possible rewards, please make sure to stay online 24/7 and keep the wallet unlocked for staking only.
Which network metrics do the rewards depend on?
The individual reward depends on the Block Reward, Block Time, Daily Network Rewards and Total Staked.
Every block one staker is randomly selected whereas 1 staked coin counts as one “lottery ticket”. The selected staker has the right to create a new block and broadcast it to the network. He then receives the block reward and the fees of all transactions successfully included in this block.
In our Staking Calculator you can play with the above mentioned metrics to understand the dynamics and create all kinds of reward scenarios.

What is Validity (VAL)?
Validity acts as a verification protocol used to validate the authenticity of data and transactions. It is the cryptocurrency that powers the Radium SmartChain network. SmartChain allows its users to transact in a safe manner by validating the transaction.
How was Validity launched?
Since the launch on the 25th May 2015, the Validity blockchain has been hard forked several times in order to implement desirable and necessary protocol parameter changes. The most recent hard fork occurred on the 29th August 2018. It introduced a new proof of stake block reward distribution schedule, activated the development fund and set a 9,000,000 RADS coin supply cap (reached in 2045).
Who is the team behind Validity?
After multiple attempts were made to launch the project, the Validity blockchain launched on the 25th May 2015. Justin Jacobeen (alias JJ12880) and Timothy Mesker (alias tm2013) were instrumental in getting things off the ground, and have worked tirelessly to sustain code development.
