GM fellow staker,
8 Spot Ethereum ETFs are on the way. Crypto as an asset class has been further legitimized and the TradFi boomers are queuing up to get a slice of the pie. May has been a wild ride and we’re here for it. Welcome to edition #33.
Hold onto your hats, the Ethereum ETFs are coming!
The spot Bitcoin ETFs are already shaking up Wall Street, with a cumulative total of $58.1B flowing into Bitcoin ETFs since going live back in January.
Now it's Ethereum's turn to join the party, with rumors that Ethereum ETFs could come online as early as June. One factor that will certainly help expedite Ethereum ETFs going live, is Staked ETH is off the table.
Last week, Blackrock updated their S-1 filing to confirm they will not be including Staked ETH in their Ethereum ETF, following suit with the likes of Fidelity and VanECK. This means that institutional buyers will not benefit from the ~3.5% yield generated from staking rewards.
However, it does pave a clearer path for the ETFs to go live. The addition of Staked ETH would add more complexity when it comes to regulation, giving agency for the SEC to put staked ether, and staking, in its crosshairs.
The approval of the Ethereum ETFs is a huge milestone for Ethereum and paves the way for more ETFs to be approved in the future.
One of the main benefits of liquid staking is the ability to use your LST/LRTs in DeFi.
That being said, researching new opportunities to put your LST to work and earn additional yield is no walk in the park.
As part of Staking Rewards’ continual evolution, you can now research additional reward options for LSTs on our website. The new “Additional Reward Options” feature is already live for a selection of LSTs on Ethereum, including wstETH, rETH and ETHx.
Below you can see all of the additional reward options for wsETH, including Seamless Protocol, Definitive, Ion Protocol and Instadapp. Each reward option displays the expected APY, your estimated rewards after 1 year and your Final Reward Rate, which is the additional yield on top of your staking rewards.
