Find your ideal OXT Staking Provider in 2 Steps

Learn about Orchid Protocol Staking

Can I stake OXT?

Staking involves depositing and locking up OXT tokens in an Ethereum smart contract called the directory. Providers stake OXT to advertise their services to clients, who select providers randomly based on their proportional stake.

Staking: Anyone can participate in delegated staking by staking their OXT tokens on a provider's address. However, there are no automatic benefits to delegated staking. While Orchid staking shares similarities with proof of stake systems in terms of using a stake as a weighting mechanism, there are key differences. Unlike typical proof of stake systems, Orchid staking does not provide automatic revenue for running nodes, and there is no inflation to fund staking. The primary source of income on Orchid comes from customers paying for bandwidth.

Custodial Staking: Custodial services provide staking pools for ENJ where users can contribute their token holdings. While this isn't traditional staking, it enables ENJ holders to earn rewards. This method allows ENJ holders to gain rewards without using a standard staking mechanism.

How much can I earn staking OXT?

Staking: OXT staking involves partnering with an Orchid bandwidth provider to earn a share of revenue or recurring payments, facilitated through various on-chain or off-chain mechanisms. Providers typically seek staking partners, and arrangements can involve using Ethereum smart contracts to automate revenue splitting between the staker and the provider.

Custodial Staking: Centralized third-party providers mostly utilize strategies where assets from each plan and type are consolidated and allocated for yield in various on-chain opportunities. Some of the avenues for yield generation are mining, staking, liquid staking, proprietary market-neutral algorithmic trading, and collateralized on-platform lending.

What are the risks to Staking OXT?

Liquidity Risk: There is an inherent risk as providers may not fulfill the contract obligations, and there's a withdrawal delay of about 3 months when repointing the stake to a different provider. Stakers should carefully evaluate providers and start with small allocations, gradually increasing based on profitability measurements.

Platform Security: Ensure the platform you choose is reputable and secure. There is a counterparty risk associated with lending to a custodial provider.

Regulatory Risk: Be aware of the legal and regulatory environment surrounding cryptocurrency lending and staking in your jurisdiction.

Before staking ENJ, consider factors such as the reputation and security of the staking platform, the potential rewards and risks involved, any lock-up periods or withdrawal restrictions, and your own investment goals and risk tolerance.

What is Orchid Protocol?

The Orchid Protocol organizes bandwidth sellers into a structured peer-to-peer (P2P) network termed the Orchid Market. Customers connect to the Orchid Market and pay bandwidth sellers in order to form a proxy chain to a specific resource on the Internet.
