Origin is an open-source platform that enables the creation of peer-to-peer marketplaces and e-commerce applications. The Origin Platform initially targets the global sharing economy, allowing buyers and sellers of fractional use goods and services (car-sharing, service-based tasks, home-sharing, etc.) to transact on the distributed, open web. Using the Ethereum blockchain and Interplanetary File System (IPFS), the platform and its community participants can interact in a peer-to-peer fashion, allowing for the creation and booking of services and goods without traditional intermediaries.
Origin was founded in San Francisco, USA. We’re a team of serial entrepreneurs and world-class software engineers including the co-founder of PayPal and first engineer at YouTube. Our full-time staff of 18 is currently situated across 4 continents. The Founders are Matthew Liu and Josh Fraser.
Origin Protocol has launched a staking contract in which users can stake OGN and earn rewards in return for locking up tokens for a certain staking period.
Users can stake by sending a simple transaction to the Staking smart contract, which triggers the lock-up of their tokens. Interest is then accrued automatically.
If you want to get started, make sure to read this OGN staking step-by-step guide.
The initial OGN staking program offers three staking periods and respective yields:
Within the staking period, funds are not transferrable. Rewards are withdrawable after the respective staking period and thus no compounding does apply.
