Morpho · Vault · Base

Morpho Gauntlet USDC Prime is a lending vault on Base built on Morpho's immutable Vault V2 infrastructure. Key Strengths
S1Immutable Morpho Vault V2 infrastructure independently audited by multiple top firms (ChainSecurity, Spearbit, Zellic, Blackthorn), a Cantina competition, and Certora formal verification, on top of extensive ecosystem audits and the immutable Morpho Blue core.
S2Verified Safe-multisig governance on Base with a 4-of-7 owner, a 3-of-7 Gauntlet curator, and Sentinel roles, plus multi-day timelocks on critical functions.
S3Diversified blue-chip collateral across wrapped BTC and ETH assets, all priced by Chainlink market oracles at conservative loan-to-value limits.
S4Strong immediate liquidity with most of TVL withdrawable on demand at low underlying utilization, having processed a large single-week net outflow without delays or freezes.
Key Risks
R1Base is a Tier-2 chain run by a single centralized Coinbase sequencer that halted block production for about 33 minutes in August 2025, temporarily blocking deposits and withdrawals, the primary reason the Base vault scores below its Ethereum sister.
R2Untested young vault that held only dust through the late-2025 liquidity-stress period and scaled to material TVL only in early 2026, with no demonstrated survival of a market-wide withdrawal-stress or bank-run event.
R3A majority of collateral is Coinbase-custodied wrapped BTC, concentrating dependency on a single custodian, where a custody failure or depeg is the primary bad-debt path.
R4Other Gauntlet-curated vaults incurred initially-uncompensated bad debt in the March 2026 Resolv exploit, linking the manager entity to depositor losses, though this Prime vault was structurally unaffected.
