How to stake VERSE
To earn a yield on your VERSE, you can either lend them out to custodial providers or stake your tokens in the Verse Dex.
To stake your tokens, you should ensure you have your VERSE on your Bitcoin.com Wallet and then follow the steps below:
Step 1: Go to the Verse Dex and connect your wallet.
Step 2: Click the ‘Stake VERSE’ button
Step 3: Enter the amount of VERSE you would like to stake and click ‘Confirm Deposit’
Do I need to maintain my staking in any way?
After staking your VERSE tokens, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- There is no penalty for withdrawing staked VERSE, and you can withdraw at any time.
- You will need to claim your staking rewards to see them in your wallet
How do I choose VERSE validators?
Unlike traditional Proof-of-Stake blockchains that utilize validators, Verse operates through a smart contract staking mechanism. This process simply requires users to secure their tokens within a smart contract, allowing them to accrue rewards over time.
How are VERSE staking rewards generated?
The Staking Rewards on Verse are generated by:
Verse Ecosystem Incentives Program – 35% of the Verse token supply is allocated to rewards distributed via staking, yield farming, airdrops, and other mechanisms. Tokens are made available to the incentives program linearly and on a block-by-block basis over 7 years, although their distribution is managed by the Bitcoin.com team.
Please note that the total annual rewards are divided by all active stakers; hence, as the amount of staked tokens goes up, the reward rate goes down.
What are the risks to staking VERSE?
Whilst we want to ensure staking is as safe and transparent as possible, there are still things to consider regarding whether a specific staking option is right for you.
Slashing risk: There is currently no slashing risk when staking VERSE.
Protocol security risks: There is an inherent risk that the protocol could contain unknown bugs. This not only applies to staking but your VERSE investment in general.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of all the risks related to staking.
What is VERSE?
VERSE is the reward and utility token for the Bitcoin.com ecosystem that performs the following key functions on the platform:
Token Utilities:
VERSE, which launched in December 2022, is Bitcoin.com’s rewards and utility token. VERSE is fueling the growth and expansion of Bitcoin.com’s ecosystem, which includes over 40 million self-custody wallets created in its multi-chain DeFi-ready mobile app, the Bitcoin.com Wallet. The ecosystem also includes the award-winning Bitcoin.com News portal with over 2.5 million monthly readers and the multichain Verse DEX where, in addition to permissionless trading, anyone can earn a share of trading fees — plus additional rewards through Verse Farms and Staking.
What are the tokenomics of VERSE?
Bitcoin.com has issued 210 billion VERSE tokens, spreading the distribution over a span of seven years. The dissemination schedule for the VERSE tokens will mirror that of native coins, with vested tokens being allocated on a per-block basis, starting from the official launch date. Qualified recipients, including those who participated in the pre-sale, will be able to claim their designated tokens in segmented allotments with each block.
