Learn about The Sandbox Staking

Can I stake SAND?

Staking SAND involves locking up your SAND tokens to support the long-term vision and sustainability of The Sandbox metaverse.

Providing Liquidity: SAND liquidity-providing programs on Polygon are available. These programs offer opportunities for SAND holders to contribute to the ecosystem's growth and earn rewards in return. The Sandbox plans to introduce more staking opportunities in the future, allowing SAND owners to demonstrate their trust in the project and potentially earn even greater rewards. Additionally, a specialized SAND staking initiative was launched specifically for LAND Owners, enabling them to access exclusive rewards.

Custodial Staking: Custodial services provide staking pools for SAND where users can contribute their token holdings. While this isn't traditional staking, it enables SAND holders to earn rewards. This method allows SAND holders to gain rewards without using a standard staking mechanism.

How are the rewards generated?

Providing Liquidity: The total rewards you receive are determined by the amount you have staked. Staking a small amount of SAND will result in lower rewards. Additionally, your rewards will be multiplied based on the number of LANDs you hold in the same wallet used for staking. Revenue generated from sales within The Sandbox marketplace, such as LANDs and ASSETs, is divided between the foundation fund, supporting and incentivizing creators in the Metaverse, and the staking fund, which fuels the staking program. Essentially, SAND invested in The Sandbox is reinvested back into the community.

Custodial Staking: Typically, centralized third-party providers employ strategies that pool assets from different plans and types, allocating them for yield through various on-chain opportunities. These avenues for yield generation include mining, staking, liquid staking, proprietary market-neutral algorithmic trading, and collateralized on-platform lending.

What are the risks of staking SAND?

Platform Security: Prioritize selecting a reputable and secure platform for your SAND staking endeavors. Custodial providers pose a counterparty risk that should be carefully evaluated.

Smart Contract Risk: Engaging in SAND token staking or DeFi protocols entails interaction with blockchain-deployed smart contracts. These contracts may harbor vulnerabilities or bugs, potentially leading to financial losses if exploited by malicious entities or if the contracts malfunction unexpectedly.

Impermanent Loss: Participating in liquidity provision carries the risk of impermanent loss, where the value of one token in a pair outperforms the other, causing a rebalance in the liquidity position and potentially resulting in fewer tokens of the appreciating asset and more of the other. It's crucial to invest only what you can afford to lose, a principle applicable to all investments, not just liquidity pools. If you're new to staking or uncertain about impermanent loss, it's advisable to conduct further research (DYOR) before engaging in staking activities.

Regulatory Risk: Stay informed about the legal and regulatory landscape governing cryptocurrency lending and staking activities within your jurisdiction.

Before committing to SAND staking, assess various factors including the staking platform's security reputation, potential rewards, associated risks, any lock-up periods or withdrawal constraints, as well as aligning your investment objectives with your risk tolerance level.

What is SAND?

SAND is the native currency of The Sandbox Game, functioning as both a utility token and a medium of exchange within its digital ecosystem. It is a fungible token, facilitating exchanges within the game environment, where creators, players, and NFT owners participate in a digital economy. The Sandbox NFTs, which include virtual LANDs, entities, player equipment, and avatars, contribute to the uniqueness and value of the ecosystem, allowing for various interactions and transactions within the game.

What is SAND tokenomics?

What is LAND?

LAND, in The Sandbox metaverse, represents digital real estate where players can create and develop experiences within the game. Each LAND is a unique ERC-721 token that exists on both the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains. Players can purchase LAND to build games and assets on them, and multiple LANDs can be combined to form larger parcels called Estates or districts. With a total of 166,464 LANDs available, players can link their LANDs together to create larger areas for development. These parcels are discoverable on the Metaverse Map, allowing players to explore virtual spaces, view content details, and interact with other creators. Additionally, the Metaverse Map serves as a marketplace where players can buy, sell, and plan their virtual experiences.
