Run Your Own Validator
Running a Validator is a great way to support the network and contribute to the security of the network. It requires a local set up in your home. Running a Validator is a great way to foster decentralization. You can run a validator either at home on your own server, or set it up remotely in the cloud.
Reward Rate
15.19%
Polkadot uses a dynamic interest rate model, where the rate is based on the total percentage of tokens staked. It adjusts the staking rewards accordingly to incentivize or discourage staking depending on whether the total staked percentage is above or below the targeted level. This allows Polkadot to maintain an optimal staking rate that aligns with its tokenomic model.
Minimum
1 DOT
To become a validator on Polkadot, there is no minimum self-bond required. However, to be elected into the active set, a minimum stake of 1283981.235390 DOT is needed. The minimum stake changes over time and is dependent on the amount of stake behind each validator, the size of the active set, and the number of validators that are waiting in the pool. You must have a stake as much or higher than the lowest ranked validator in the active set +1 to enter the active set. Thus, it's possible to meet the minimum stake requirement to be elected to the active set by using almost 100% nominated DOTs.
Lockup Time
28 days
To withdraw your staked tokens, you need to start the 28 day unbonding period. During this time, your staked DOT will not accrue any new rewards, and you will be unable to withdraw them until the completion of the period.
